LOAN REVIEW OFFICER

Job Description

GENERAL SUMMARY:
Responsible for loan review to lessen risk from errors and omission by reviewing credit analysis, underwriting, documentation and ongoing monitoring requirements. Provide independent assessment of each branch’s loan portfolio.  Compile results of assessment and report conclusions and recommendations to bank management.
            
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
  1. Reviews loan portfolios to assess asset quality.  Communicates findings to management.
  2. Monitor exposure and conformity to policy.
  3. Reviews for adequate and sufficient loan file documentation in Suntell.
  4. Reviews credit process/administration in the branches and makes recommendations.
  5. Reviews and/or completes cash flow/credit analysis.
  6. Verifies management’s ability to accurately and timely identify problem loans.
  7. Interaction and communication with lending staff in branches, branch and senior/executive management.
  8. Maintains strict confidentiality of credit information.
  9. Creates various management reports.  
  10. Verifies compliance with bank’s loan policy and banking laws/regulations.
  11. Assist in the training of employees as needed.
  12. Lead/assist in various projects as assigned.
  13. Other duties as assigned by management. 
  14. Regular and reliable attendance.
 
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Knowledge of Bank policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of loan processes and basic accounting.  
  • Skill in communicating effectively with branch staff and co-workers.
  • Skill in training and communication.
  • Ability to work in a PC dominant environment including, Microsoft Office Suite including word, excel etc., email, internet, and intranet.
  • Ability to be highly organized and motivated, with good skills in accuracy and detail, strong problem solving and analytical skills, a high sense of urgency. 
  • Have a working knowledge or gain a working knowledge soon after appointment of the bank’s various software systems, such as: Suntell, Navigator, Director, Decision Pro, etc.  This list is not meant to be all inclusive and may vary depending upon what systems are utilized.
  • Ability to be responsive to and able to meet strict deadlines. 
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.  
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize in rapidly changing environment.
  • Ability to create an efficient work environment, paying close attention to detail.  Must put a premium on accuracy of own work and work reviewed of others.
  • Ability to function as a team player and leader.
 
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • College degree, with an emphasis in business is preferred.
  • Minimum of three to five years of banking experience.
  • Minimum of two years in either lending position or regulatory compliance.

Must be able to read documents, use computer

Must be able to communicate in person and on the telephone.
 
Standing/Walking:    50-74%                                                                                    
Must be able to go to areas of the office to use copier & fax machines 
 
Climbing/Stooping/Kneeling: 25-49%                                            
Must be able to kneel or stoop to file or retrieve files in cabinets.
 
Fingering/Grasping/Feeling: 75-100%
Must be able to use computer, place paperwork in folders
 
 
PHYSICAL DIMENSIONS:
Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negotiable amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.  Job involves sitting most of the time and if walking and standing is required, only occasionally.
